Exterior Eye and Associated Structures

Assessment of the structures of the eye involves your optometrist scrutinising the eye using a bio-microscope or slit lamp. This assessment allows us to look carefully at lash follicles, gland openings, blood vessels and fluids.

Some have said that the eyes are the window to the soul. What Visual Eyes can tell you, is that a large number of systemic conditions can affect the eye. We choose to thoroughly assess each and every patient, so that unusual findings are more likely to be seen.

Interior Eye and Associated Structures

The interior space of the eye is filled with several interesting biological structures and fluids. The eye is truly amazing once you realise exactly how intricate the little ball is.

The clarity and soundness of the structures and fluids are incredibly important, and Visual Eyes has made extensive efforts to ensure that we have the most up-to-date equipment and all the gadgets, to ensure that we get a really good look at the only two eyes you have.

Co-morbidities

Co-morbidities are all diseases that affect the body that tend to bunch together, or bad things that happen as the dominoes drop because something went wrong earlier.

Many conditions that occur commonly in the general community affect the eye; these include hypertension or high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipideamia or ‘cholesterol’, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosis, urticarial vasculitis and marfan’s syndrome to name a few.

Visual Eyes is proud of the knowledge we all share between us, and we are never shy to ask for a second opinion, because we aim to be the best for every patient we find in our consultation room.
